Little known, Berlin is home to 70.000 garden plots (which again are organized in 2000 allotments).
Their naming not only brings back associations with Germany’s troubled past but also provides insights into the mental state of Berlin’s urban gardeners. Kolonie Heimat comprises several hundred bw photographs of the most interesting names and displays, taken between 2003 and 2008 with a 1950’s Rolleiflex twin lens reflex camera.
